BCCI’S AGM (ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING)
The 89th BCCI’S AGM(Annual General Meeting) is set to occur on Thursday, December 24th in Ahmedabad. Some significant issues will be discussed there.
The purpose of BCCI’s AGM (AGENDA GENERAL MEETING)
The purpose of the 89th BCCI’s AGM is to contemplate the tax exemption of the upcoming 2021 T20 World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November 2021. Generally, international tournaments get tax exemption in every country. But as per the latest rules, BCCI is not likely to get it. Incase BCCI (Board of Control For Cricket in India) does not earn the tax exemption then ICC (International Cricket Council) could get the right to host the tournament. ICC has ordered BCCI to respond on or before 31st December. So the final decision will be taken in the meeting today.
Addition of new IPL teams
The other important agenda of the meeting is to discuss the addition of two IPL teams in 2022. Earlier there were rumors that two more new teams would be included in IPL 2021 but because of the current situation, BCCI has finalized to conduct IPL 2021 with eight teams. The final decision might be taken today.
Selection of the members of the selection Union
There are three vacancies in the BCCI’s selection committee (North, West, and East division). From the North division, Chetan Sharma and Maninder Singh are contesting for the post. Ajit Agarkar and AB Kurvila vying for the North Division position and Shiv Sundar Das (ex test cricketer) is the contender of the East division. The candidates of each division will be finalized today.
Rajib Shukla will take over as BCCI’S vice-president as he has solely elected for the designation.
