Former Pakistani seamer Shoaib Akhtar recalled a memory of the Pakistan tour of India in 2007, which scared him of not getting the Indian Visa again in his life.
We all are aware of the biggest rivalry of cricket- India vs Pakistan. Earlier the two teams used to face each other in a bilateral series. But due to political reasons, we fans miss the spectacular matches between these two cricket-loving nations. India and Pakistan meet each other only in the ICC events nowadays.
In an interview with Sportskeeda, Shoaib Akhtar revealed that-” Pakistani and Indian players gathered in an award show in India during the Pakistan tour of India 2007. Where he tried to lift Sachin Tendulkar as a matter of fun but unfortunately Sachin slipped from his hand and fell on the floor. At that time Akhtar felt that if Sachin is injured he would never get the Indian Visa again.”
He said-” After Pakistan India is the country where he gets too much love. When Sachin fell down he was thinking if he is injured and misses the series, the Indian fans would burn him alive and his Indian Visa will never be granted again. Yuvraj and Harbhajan were also there and said-” What are you doing, man? I replied- “I don’t really know, it just happened”. Afterward I went to Sachin and asked him “If he was okay?” thankfully he said-” I am fine”.
The contest between Sachin and Akhtar is one of the topics that will always be talked about in cricket. Akhtar has got Tendulkar out few times in international cricket, while Sachin has smacked him hard also. Who can forget the innings of Sachin in the 2003 World Cup at Centurion, 98 off 75 balls, where he bashed the Pakistani bowlers mercilessly, including Shoaib Akhtar. But it was the Akhtar who sent him to the pavilion just before his century. In the end, India won the match by 6 wickets.
