Rabada is currently one of the best fast bowlers of the current generation and plays all three formats for South Africa. There are some facts about him not everyone is aware of. Let’s take a gaze at some interesting facts about Kagiso Rabada. 

  1. Kagiso Rabada was born on 25th May 1995 in Gauteng, Johannesburg to a doctor father, and lawyer mother.
  1. Rabada was a member of the 2014 U-19 World Cup-winning South African team. His 6/25 against Australia in the semi-finals at Dubai cricket stadium was the best bowling figure in that World Cup.
  1. He was the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the 2014 U-19 World Cup with 14 wickets in 5 matches with an impressive average of 10.28. His bowling strike rate was even best in the tournament, 19.8. 
  1. After his outstanding U-19 world cup South Africa’s best domestic side Lions offered him to represent them in the domestic circuit. He had 7 scalps in 2 matches for his team. 
  1. Rabada made his international debut against Australia in a T20 match in 2014 at Adelaide Oval. His first international wicket was Glenn Maxwell, who was dismissed for a duck. 
  1. Kagiso Rabada played his first ODI match against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2015 at the age of 20. He returned with 6 for 16 in 8 overs, which is the best bowling figure by any debutant in ODI cricket history. 
  1. He took a hat-trick in his first ODI match against Bangladesh and became the 2nd bowler in the history of ODI cricket after Taijul Islam to do so.
  2. Rabada made his first appearance in test cricket against India in Chandigarh in 2015. He grabbed 1/49 in 22 overs. 
  1. The speedster from Gauteng has the best bowling strike rate among bowlers with 200+ wickets, 41.7. 
  1. Rabada became the No 1 ODI bowler by superseding fellow teammate Imran Tahir in 2017. 
  1. In 2018, Kagiso Rabada dethroned James Anderson to become the No 1 test bowler after taking 5/75 at Newlands against India in the 1st test match. 
  1. KG is also the fastest bowler in terms of age to take 150 test wickets, 23 years 50 days. 
  1. Rabada is the first cricketer to win six awards in Cricket South Africa’s annual award ceremony, he accomplished it in 2016. 
  1. Wisden Magazine gave him the honor of the best young player in the world in 2018. 
  1. In 2016 Rabada played for Kent County Cricket Club. 
  1. Delhi Capitals bought Rabada in the 2017 IPL auction for INR 50 million. 
  1. KG took the most wickets in the 2020 IPL, 30 wickets in 17 matches, and won the purple cap.
  1. Rabada was the highest wicket-taker in tests in 2018 with 52 wickets in 10 matches. 
  1. The African star has taken the 2nd most number of wickets in international cricket before turning 26, 352 wickets in 148 wickets. Waqar Younis has bagged the most wickets (504).
