JACQUES KALLIS APPOINTED AS BATTING CONSULTANT OF ENGLAND

Ex-South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis appointed as the batting consultant of ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) for the tour of Sri Lanka on Monday, December 19th. England will play two test matches at Galle International Stadium.

Jacques Kallis has helped South Africa in 2019 during their tour of Sri Lanka as a batting consultant. So, possibly her inputs will be very instrumental for England. Kallis has amassed 13289 runs in 166 test matches with an average of 55.4. He has scored well in the sub-continent also, smashing 8 hundred here.

Kallis’s peers for the Sri Lankan tour will be Jeetan Patel (spin consultant), Carl Hopkinson (fielding coach), Jon Lewis (fast bowling coach), and wicket-keeping coach James Foster.

Moreover, Kallis’s appointment as batting consultant might be extended for the tour of India also. Because last in 2016 India lost the test series by 4-0. So they must want to beat India on their home ground. Because India barely loses series in India.

England’s squad for the Sri Lankan tour

Joe Root ©, Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Dom Bees, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Ben Foakes, Dom Sibley, Jack Leach, Dan Lawrence, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood and Olly Stone.

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer have been given rest for the tour. They are likely to be included for the series of India which will commence on 5h February.

The series was supposed to be played in March this year but it was abandoned due to the deadly Corona outbreak. Now there is one more concern that has been born as the UK has found a new variation of Coronavirus which is 70% more effective than the current one. As It is spreading swiftly the UK government has imposed lockdown again.
