Indian superstar wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul has become the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team ahead of the test series against South Africa, which will commence on 26th December at Centurion. The Board of Control for Cricket in India named him the vice-captain on 18th December as the newly appointed white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma got ruled out of the Proteas test series with a hamstring injury.
KL Rahul was out of the Indian test squad due to lack of form for 2 years but selectors kept him in the squad for the 2021 England tour as a backup. But amid the injury of Shubman Gill, the management gave him another chance and The Karnata lad proved his mettle with a spectacular century at Lord’s. Rahul accumulated 314 runs in 8 innings at a decent average of 39.78.

In the recently concluded test series against New Zealand, KL was not in the unit due to injury. But he is all set to open the innings in South Africa along with his Karnataka teammate Mayank Agarwal. Agarwal was the highest run-getter in the Test series against Blackcaps.
