Indian pacer Md Shami’s brother Mohammed Kaif has been included in the 26 members probable squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Cab Secretary Snehasish Ganguly yet to announce the name of the captain for the tournament.
BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has declared the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will begin on 10th January 2021.
This tournament has been delayed due to the ferocious Corona Pandemic. The BCCI usually hosts the tournament in December. With the consent of the board members, the decision of the tournament has been taken. All the teams have to maintain Bio-bubble protocols amidst the pandemic.
Why did Md Shami’s brother get into the squad?
Recently CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) conducted a T20 tournament to find good players from the clubs of Kolkata. Six teams participated in the tournament – Mohun Bagan AC, Tapan Memorial Club, Calcutta Customs Club, East Bengal Club, Town Club, and Kalighat Club. The ROXX Bengal T20 challenge started on 24th November and continued till 9th December. Mohammed Kaif played for the Town club. He impressed the selectors with bat and bowl both. He scored 140 runs and took 20 wickets in 12 matches.
