Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma is going to replace Virat Kohli as the captain of the white ball cricket after the conclusion of the 2021 T20 World Cup which will occur in UAE and Oman in October.
The rumors of making veteran Mumbai opener the skipper of the side have been around for a few months now. Chances are, Indian ace batsman Virat Kohli will make the announcement soon.
According to a report of Times of India, “Virat himself will make the announcement. He is of the view that he needs to concentrate on his batting and go back to becoming what he has always been- the batsman in the world”.
The TOI report says that the team management has done few meetings with both vice-captain Rohit and skipper Virat Kohli in the last few months.
By stepping down from captaincy, Virat will be pressure-free and able to focus on becoming the best in all three formats. His performance since 2019 has been a bit down due to the pressure of leadership.
