Stuart Binny Bid Adieu To All Forms Cricket

Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny bid adieu to all forms of cricket on Monday after staying around the international circuit for 2 years. 

Stuart Binny began his test career in the India tour of England in 2014 at Trent bridge. Although he was wicket-less in his spell of 10 overs, amassed a match-saving 78 runs in the 2nd innings, which was his only fifty in his 6 test appearances. 

The 37 years old player made his ODI debut against New Zealand but his best performance of his career came against Bangladesh, 6 for 4 runs in Mirpur in 2014, which is the best bowling figure by an Indian in ODI cricket. Binny was a part of the 2015 World Cup squad also, however didn’t get a place in any of the matches. 

In 23 international matches, Binny scored 459 runs and scalped 24 wickets. His last international match with the Indian side was a T20 match against West Indies in 2016, where he conceded 32 runs in one over. Evin Lewis hit him for 5 sixes. 

The arrival of a player like Hardik Pandya in 2016 ended his dream of representing India again, as Pandya has contributed consistently to the nation. 

Because of his selection on the Indian side, his father Roger Binny, who is a former Indian cricketer had to step down from the selection committee. 

Having played 95 first-class matches for Karnataka and Nagaland combinedly, Binny finished his career with 4796 runs and 148 wickets. 

Binny has displayed his gratitude to the BCCI, his colleagues, and coaches for supporting him throughout the journey.

Binny said- “I am grateful to the coaches who encouraged me, to the selectors who put their faith in me. To my captains who entrusted me. None of this would have been possible without my family, I stepped out on the field every day thinking of them.

“Cricket runs through my blood, and I will always look to give back to the game that has given me everything. I thank you all for your continued support in my next innings”
