Longest Six In Cricket History

In the ’90s, hitting sixes in any format was a luxury but continuous changes in rules like restrictions on bouncers and the introduction of two balls from two ends along with batting-friendly wickets have made cricket a batting-oriented game. Smashing a six is easy but there have been a few players who deal with boundaries and give all the power in every shot to send the ball a mile. In this article, we will talk about the longest six in cricket history.

Shahid Afridi (153 mt)

Former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi has hit the longest six in cricket history. During an ODI game against South Africa, the swashbuckling batter smacked Ryan McLaren for 153 meter-gigantic six over long-on off a length delivery. This shot went past the stadium over the roof in Johannesburg.

Brett Lee (143 mt)

It’s surprising to see ex-Australian fast bowler Brett Lee on the list of longest six in cricket history. Lee not only could bowl thunderous deliveries but was quite handy with the bat too. He struck a maximum off seamer Rowman Powell over mid-wicket which was measured 143 meters in a test match against West Indies in Brisbane, leaving the fans, himself, and the opponents awestruck.

Martin Guptill (127 mt)

One of the cleanest strikers to ever play for New Zealand, Martin Guptill has been renowned for his ability to clear the ropes with ease. He once smacked a 127-meter over boundary against South Africa’s Lonwabo Tsotsobe in a T20 game in 2012. The ball sailed over the mid-wicket and slammed on the roof before it came back to the park.

Liam Livingstone (122 mt)

One of the hardest hitters in the modern era, Liam Livingstone whacked a 122-meter soaring six off Haris Rauf in a T20 against Pakistan in Headingly, finding the 4th place on the longest six in cricket list. The power in the stroke sent the ball outside of the stadium.

Corey Anderson (122 mt)

Current USA all-rounder who previously played for New Zealand Corey Anderson terrifies every bowler with his ruthless strokeplay. During the 1st ODI of India’s tour of New Zealand in 2014, the Southpaw hit Mohammed Shami for a monstrous six over mid-wicket which is regarded as the one of best sixes to be hit ever.
