ODI cricket has taken a longer stride in terms of the nature and pace of the game since the arrival of T20 cricket. Batters of a team try to hit tons to be ahead in the game than the opponents. South Africa vs West Indies in 2015 

Three centuries in an ODI innings for the first time were scored during the 3rd ODI between South Africa and West Indies in 2015. The 360-degree player scored his 50 in just 16 balls while reaching the 100-run mark in the next 15 balls. All these amazing tons took Proteas to their highest team total of 439/5 at the end of 50 overs. 

India vs South Africa in 2015 

South African team once again etched their name on the list of three centuries in an ODI innings. The occasion came against India in 2015 at Wankhede Stadium. South Africa got to bat first and Quinton De Kock led the batting unit from the front with a magnificent 78 balls century on the way to 109 runs. On the other hand, Faf Du Plessis had to arrive early due to Amla’s dismissal. He also joined hands with the Southpaw and scored a blistering 133 off 115 deliveries to keep the Proteas in a superb position before retiring out owing to an injury. The stage was set for AB to launch fireworks on the ground. Further, the veteran batsman faced only 61 balls and smacked 119 runs relying on 11 soaring sixes. Their blazing outing with the bat propelled South Africa to record 438/4 in their allocated 50 overs. 

Netherlands vs England in 2022

The innovator of Test and ODI cricket post-2015 World Cup, the England cricket team registered three centuries in an ODI innings in 2022 in Amsteelveen. In the 1st game of the Netherlands tour, the trio of Phil Salt, Dawid Malan, and Jos Buttler smashed the host bowlers all over the park mercilessly from the beginning to the end and amassed 122, 125, and 162* apiece to register the highest ever total in ODIs, 498/4. Such clean power hitting is very rare in the history of 50-over cricket hence it will be remembered for a long time. 

South Africa vs Sri Lanka in 2023

South Africa has established itself as one of the most robust batting lineups in the globe given their antics over the years. They took the whole world by storm in the 4th match of the 2023 World Cup, accumulating 428/5 in 50 overs against Sri Lanka in Delhi. Proteas set the highest-ever World Cup total relying on tons by Quinton De Kock (100), Van Dussen (108), and Aiden Makram (106). Whereas Makram slammed his century in a mere 49 balls, breaking Kevin O’Brien’s previous 50-ball fastest hundred in World Cup record by facing 1 less ball.
