Rohit Sharma: 381 ODI sixes
Rohit Sharma has hit the most sixes in ODI cricket, 381 after India’s October 2026 series against West Indies. He broke Shahid Afridi’s long-standing record of 351 against South Africa in Ranchi on 30 November 2025. Chris Gayle (331) is third, and only these three have hit 300 ODI sixes.

Rohit Sharma: 381 Sixes and Counting
Rohit passed Chris Gayle (331) against England in Cuttack in February 2025, then took the record from Afridi with his 352nd six, a pull off Marco Jansen, in Ranchi in November 2025. In the September–October 2026 series against West Indies he became the first batter to hit 200 ODI sixes in one country, the first to hit 100 international sixes against West Indies, and passed 12,000 ODI runs. His 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014 is still the highest individual ODI score, and he holds the Indian record for sixes in an ODI innings (16, against Australia in Bengaluru in 2013).
Shahid Afridi: 351 Sixes
Afridi held the ODI sixes record for 15 years and hit his 351 at a strike rate of 117, by far the fastest of anyone on this list. His 37-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in Nairobi in 1996, in only his second ODI, was the fastest ODI century for 17 years.
Chris Gayle: 331 Sixes
Gayle hit 16 sixes in his 215 against Zimbabwe at the 2015 World Cup in Canberra, the first ODI World Cup double hundred, and won the 2004 Champions Trophy with West Indies. He played his last ODI in 2019.
Sanath Jayasuriya and MS Dhoni
Jayasuriya transformed opening batting in the 1990s and finished with 270 sixes and 13,430 runs, now the fifth-most in ODI history. Dhoni hit most of his 229 sixes as a finisher from No. 5 to 7, including the six that won the 2011 World Cup final.
Eoin Morgan, AB de Villiers and Brendon McCullum
Morgan, England’s 2019 World Cup-winning captain, hit a record 17 sixes in his 148 against Afghanistan at Old Trafford that year, breaking the 16 shared by Rohit, Gayle and de Villiers. De Villiers holds the records for the fastest ODI fifty (16 balls), hundred (31 balls) and 150 (64 balls). McCullum held the Test sixes record (107) until Ben Stokes passed him in 2023.
