Vaibhav Suryavanshi, aged just 14, became the youngest cricketer in Indian Premier League (IPL) history on Monday — and made an unforgettable debut with a record-breaking century for Rajasthan Royals.
The teenager, hailing from Bihar, struck 101 runs off just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. His whirlwind knock included 11 sixes and 7 boundaries, helping Rajasthan Royals chase down a 210-run target with ease.
“He batted like a seasoned professional,” said head coach Kumar Sangakkara after the match. “We knew he was talented — but this was extraordinary.”
Suryavanshi’s debut century is now the second-fastest in IPL history, and he is the youngest-ever centurion in men’s T20 cricket.
Why This Matters
Suryavanshi was picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 auction for ₹1.1 crore, aged just 13 — a move that drew both excitement and skepticism. However, with this sensational innings, he has now firmly silenced all doubts.
Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, “A fearless innings by a young star. The future of Indian cricket looks bright.”
