The specialist test batter of the Indian cricket team, Ajinkya Rahane has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 with a severe hamstring injury. Rahane sustained the injury during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 14th May at Maharastra Cricket Association stadium.

According to the reports, the KKR batter has left the bio bubble and headed to Bangalore for rehab at National Cricket Academy for four weeks. The 33 years old was seen unwell during powerplay overs at MCA against SRH but still contributed with 28 runs off 24 runs, including 3 massive sixes.
The injury of Ajinkya Rahane means he will unlikely to be in the Indian squad for the one-off test against England in July. The Indian team will play 3 T20s & 3 ODIs apart from one test match, which was abandoned due to covid last year.
Being an experienced campaigner, Ajinkya Rahane could amass 133 runs only in 7 matches he played with the highest score of 44. While his strike rate has been 103.90, which is considered poor as per the T20 standard.
KKR is currently at the 6th position in the point table with 6 wins in 7 matches. In their next match, they will lock horns with Lucknow Supergiants on 18th May at DY Patil stadium. Kolkata will surely miss the services of Rahane, but they can definitely try West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, or Rinku Singh for the opening spot.
