The Prince of Calcutta, Sourav Ganguly, is all set to lose his position as the figurative King of BCCI. Ganguly was first elected as the Board’s President in November 2019 and has continued to keep that position till now but with the upcoming Annual General Meeting of the BCCI, things seem to be looking dull for dada.
It was reported that in lead-up meetings to the AGM, it was made clear that Sourav Ganguly is no longer the first choice to become the President again. Apparently, he was offered the position of the IPL’s Chairman which he refused citing his interest in the post of the ICC Chairman but the Board has even said that he will not have its backing even if he contests for the position of the Chairman of ICC.

Roger Binny, former Indian cricketer is all set to become the President of the BCCI with Jay Shah retaining the Secretary’s position. Arun Dhumal, the current treasurer of the BCCI is set to take his position as the IPL Chairman, and replacing him as the BCCI treasurer will be Ashish Sellar. With this information already out in the open, the AGM on the 18th of this month seems to be just a formality as no more than one nomination has been filed for any post on the Board.
What the future holds for one of the best Captains Indian cricket ever saw is still a mystery with his board not showing much confidence in him as an administrator but Ganguly is known to be at his best with his back against the wall. While there are great hopes from the yet-to-be-elected Board members, whether Ganguly will still contest for the post of ICC Chairman is still an unsettled question.
