ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Asia Qualifier Begins in Bangkok: Nine Teams Compete for Global Qualification.

The road to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England has officially commenced with the Asia Qualifier kicking off today, May 9, in Bangkok, Thailand. Nine teams from across the continent are vying for two coveted spots in the Global Qualifier, bringing together emerging and established cricketing nations in a high-stakes tournament. 

Tournament Format and Groupings

The participating teams are divided into three groups:

• Group A: Bhutan, Kuwait, Thailand
• Group B: Malaysia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
• Group C: Bahrain, Hong Kong China, Nepal

Each team will play the others in their group once. The top team from each group will advance to the Super 3 stage, where they will compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams from the Super 3 stage will secure their spots in the Global Qualifier.

Host Nation Thailand Leads the Charge

Thailand, the host nation, enters the tournament with momentum, having recently improved their standing in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings. Their participation in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier in Pakistan has provided valuable experience as they aim to capitalize on home advantage.
