In an exciting development, Cricket South Africa has unveiled the schedule for the second season of this tournament. Commencing on January 10, the SA20’s second season kicks off with a clash between defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape and the Johannesburg Super Kings at St. George’s Park. The SA20 Final, which will take place across a month in the T20 format, is scheduled for February 10, with the site yet to be determined. The involvement of six Indian Premier League franchises has considerably increased the tournament’s attractiveness, resulting in an increase in Indian viewership. This season is set to build on the momentum of excellent cricket and global enthusiasm generated by the SA20 event.
League Commissioner, Graeme Smith said. “We have a jam-packed opening week of matches which will captivate fans around the country. We have been intentional in giving families, friends and our new fans an opportunity to watch as many matches as possible, with mid-week fixtures starting from 17h30 and weekends providing prime summer evening viewing. It was fantastic to see all the fan support in year 1. Fans can mark their calendars and expect to see more of what they experienced last summer -the same vibe, entertainment, and world class international and local talent in Season 2.”
The pre-season auction for the upcoming SA20 season is scheduled for September 27th, raising anticipation for the upcoming season. Teams will meticulously assemble their squads during this key event by picking outstanding players to reinforce their ranks. Mirroring the round-robin league structure of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the SA20 league will have teams engaging in a double encounter with each other.
