He continues his purple patch in test cricket and scored a disciplined 129 off 196 balls, including 16 fours and 2 maximums, it was his 10th hundred in the marquee competition.
Before the game, he was sitting with 9 tons which was equal to Rohit Sharma. Gill's 129 along with Jaiswal's 175 helped India to reach 518/5 in 134.2 overs in the first innings.His spectacular century was fifth as captain in 2025, taking him shoulder to shoulder with Virat Kohli who holds the record for most test centuries by an Indian in a year, accomplishing the feat twice in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
