Fawad Alam quits Pakistan cricket to play in USA

Fawad Alam, a seasoned cricketer known for his contributions to Pakistani cricket, has made the significant decision to step away from the cricket scene in Pakistan and pursue his cricketing career in the United States of America (USA). He will be representing the Chicago Kingsmen in the Minor League Cricket T20 competition as a local player. 

Fawad Alam’s decision to move to the United States and join the Chicago Kingsmen in the Minor League Cricket T20 follows a trend of several Pakistani cricketers making a similar move. Players like Sami Aslam, Hammad Azam, Saif Badar, and Mohammad Mohsin have also chosen to shift their cricketing careers to the USA.

In Test cricket, he played 19 matches and displayed his prowess with 5 centuries, showcasing his ability to excel in the longest format. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he participated in 38 matches and managed to score a century against Sri Lanka during the 2014 Asia Cup, Additionally, in the T20 International arena, he featured in 24 matches. 

Fawad Alam’s cricketing journey has been a rollercoaster ride of perseverance and determination. he made a century on his test debut, showcasing his talent, but he was dropped from the national team after a few bad performances, he had to wait for 11 years before being given another opportunity to represent Pakistan at the highest level.

His return to the team was marked by a significant milestone – a century against New Zealand in his third game after coming back. Fawad Alam has had an illustrious domestic career spanning 201 first-class games and nearly two decades, characterised by exceptional consistency and dedication.

He has accumulated over 14,000 runs in domestic cricket, which is a testament to his batting capability. As he steps away from the international scene and ventures into a new chapter of his career with Chicago Kingsmen in Minor League Cricket T20 in the United States, he will continue to inspire generations to come with his legacy as a prolific run-scorer and a symbol of resilience in Pakistani cricket.
