    History will be created today when the Rank 2 Indian test side will face the top test team New Zealand today from 3.30 p.m. at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton in the maiden final of the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Both nations have come a long way to England to play the final of the World Test Championship, the special occasion for the two teams has not arrived overnight, it is the toil and consistency of the past three years. England started their preparation for the world test championship final before India, as they played a 2 match test series against the host England. Subsequently, the White ferns won the series by 1-0 and are ready to fight to hold the silverware with quality simulation. 

    On the contrary, India reached Southampton two weeks ago and had to quarantine themselves for a few days in the adjacent Hilton hotel of the Ageas Bowl stadium. In form of the preparation, India played some intra-squad matches in order to play positive cricket in the finals of the World Test Championship. India played their last series in India prior to IPL against England, where they convincingly defeated England by 3-1. 

    New Zealand has already tested their strength and skill in the England series and got performers like Devon Conway (200 on debut match), Veteran fast bowling pairs Tim Southee ( 6/43 in the 1st test) & Trent Boult (6 wickets in the 2nd test). The substitute bowler Matt Henry, who played in the absence of Southee, also shone with 7 wickets in the last match. While for India, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant slammed a century in their intra-squad practice match. The opening pairs hit a decent half-century, which is a good sign for India. Among the bowlers, Ravi Jadeja, Siraj, and Ishant Sharma gave difficult times to batters.

    The Day 1 has been washed out due to heavy rainfall in Southampton. so, the reserve day on 23rd June will come into consideration to make the grand final a 5 day contest.
