India’s compound archers won all three team gold medals on offer at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, beating China in the women’s and men’s finals and South Korea in a shoot-off in the mixed team final. The mixed team win also secured India a quota for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Women’s and men’s teams beat China

The women’s trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi set the tone, shooting 238 to China’s 234 for a four-point victory in the gold medal match.

The men’s final was far tighter. Sahil Jadhav, Kushal Dalal and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru fell behind China early but clawed their way back and edged the contest 238-237, a single point separating the two sides at the end of the four ends.

Shoot-off drama and an Olympic quota

The mixed team final against South Korea went the distance. Sahil Jadhav and Chikitha Taniparthi finished level with their Korean opponents at 157-157 after regulation, then held their nerve to win the shoot-off and complete India’s clean sweep of the compound team events.

That result carries weight beyond Nagoya. Compound archery is set to feature at the Olympics for the first time at LA 2028 through the mixed team event, and the Asian Games victory earned India a quota place in that competition with almost two years still to go before the Games.

Key results

  • Women’s team final: India 238, China 234 (Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep, Chikitha Taniparthi)
  • Men’s team final: India 238, China 237 (Sahil Jadhav, Kushal Dalal, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru)
  • Mixed team final: India beat South Korea in a shoot-off after a 157-157 tie (Sahil Jadhav, Chikitha Taniparthi)
  • Outcome: LA 2028 Olympic quota secured in the compound mixed team event

The three golds were part of a strong day for India in Japan, which also saw the women’s hockey team reach the final. Individual compound medals are still to be decided.
