Jofra Archer Ruled Out of West Indies ODI Series Due to Thumb Injury

Jofra Archer Ruled Out of West Indies ODI Series Due to Thumb Injury

England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies after sustaining a right thumb injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Wednesday.

Archer, who was recently representing Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, suffered the injury during a match, forcing him to withdraw from both the IPL and England’s three-match ODI series scheduled for later this month.

The injury is a setback for the 29-year-old pacer, who has battled multiple fitness issues over the past few years. According to the ECB, Archer’s condition will be monitored over the next two weeks, with further updates to follow based on his recovery progress.

To fill the void left by Archer, Luke Wood has been called up to the England ODI squad. Wood has previously featured in two ODIs and five T20 Internationals for England, with his last appearance coming in 2023.

The ODI series against West Indies is a crucial part of England’s preparation for upcoming international fixtures, and the team will hope to maintain momentum despite Archer’s absence.

England vs West Indies ODI Series 2025 Schedule:

  • 1st ODI: 29th May 2025
  • 2nd ODI: 1st June 2025
  • 3rd ODI: 3rd June 2025
