ODI cricket is still one of the most exhilarating formats of the game. However, it is also true that after the inception of T20 cricket, the craze for ODI has gone down among players and fans. But the cricket World Cup is keeping this predominant format alive. Till 2010, every player was mad for One Day Internationals and often every team used to face each other in ODIs. A plethora of captains has led their side in ODIs. But the ones with proper tactics, team, and composure have thrived the most. So far, more than 2000 ODI matches have been played among teams, let’s gaze through the players with the most ODI wins as captain.

A great batsman cum leader, Ricky guided Australia to win two most important matches, the final of the 2003 World Cup against India & final of the 2007 World Cup against Sri Lanka.
India’s longest ODI skipper who served for 10 long years (2007-2017), MS Dhoni cements 2nd place on the most ODI wins as captain tally. Having led India in 200 ODIs, Dhoni registered 110 wins at a decent win percentage of 59.52. The Ranchi boy ended India’s drought of 28 years of winning a World Cup in 2011 at Wankhede stadium when he chased the 275 runs target in the final with his signature “Helicopter” shot six.
Australia’s maiden World Cup-lifting skipper, Allan Border finds himself in 3rd place in terms of having the most ODI wins as captain. Border’s Australia had 107 positive results in 178 appearances in ODI, maintaining a win % of 61.42.
