Ricky Ponting: 27,368 Runs
Ponting is the only Australian with more than 20,000 international runs. A three-time World Cup winner, twice as captain, his 140* in the 2003 final against India is one of the great World Cup final innings, and his 257 against India at Melbourne was his highest Test score.
David Warner: 18,995 Runs
Warner retired from Tests and ODIs in January 2024 and from T20Is after the 2024 T20 World Cup, with 49 international hundreds. His 335* against Pakistan in Adelaide in 2019 is the second-highest Test score by an Australian.
Steve Smith: Climbing Past Border
Smith retired from ODIs in 2025 with 5,800 runs but continues in Tests, where he passed Steve Waugh and reached 11,000 runs in October 2026. That has taken him past Allan Border into fourth on the all-format list, with Steve Waugh’s 18,496 next.
