Most Runs in SA20 History

SA T20 is a franchise league organized by the Cricket South Africa board. The maiden season of this exciting tournament was played in 2022-23. In total six teams compete in this event- MI Cape Town, Durban’s Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape clinched the inaugural season of the competition under the captainship of Aiden Makram. The 2nd edition of this marquee event is underway, let’s have a look at the batters with the most runs in SA20 history.

Most Runs in SA20 History –

Jos Buttler 

The 2022 T20 World Cup winning skipper Jos Buttler leads the chart of most runs in SA20 history. The dashing wicket-keeper batter represents his IPL team’s owned franchise Paarl Royals in this event and having played 18 games, he has amassed 681 runs at an impressive average of 42.56 and a decent strike rate of 136.74. He has registered 6 fifties so far with 70* being his best score. In the 2022-23 edition of this South African league, Buttler was the highest run-getter with 391 runs in 11 games. 

Henrich Klaasen 

The first-choice wicket-keeper batsman of Durban Super Giants, Henrich Klaasen has scored the 2nd most runs in the SA20 with 593 runs in 17 matches. The flamboyant batter maintains a staggering average of 53.90 and boasts a stunning strike rate of 174.92. He has smashed 5 fifties and 1 hundred. Klaasen was among the top scorers in the first season. 

Ryan Rickelton 

Promising Proteas talent from Johannesburg, Ryan Rickelton gets 3rd place on the elite tally of most runs in SA20 history. Ryan dons the gloves for the MI Cape Town in the T20 extravaganza. In 14 matches, the Southpaw has notched up 528 runs, averaging a healthy 40.61. His strike rate has been a superb 151.28. The left-hand batter has crossed the 50-run mark four times in the tournament. 

Aiden Makram 

The skipper of Sunrisers Eastern Cape Aiden Makram has been a run-bank and finds himself in 4th place on the list of most runs in SA20 history. The classy batsman depends on timing and has power as well to send the ball over the rope. He has gotten 509 runs in 18 matches at a decent strike rate of 130,84. Makram has 2 fifties and 1 ton to his name. He led the team from the front to triumph in the 2022-23 edition with 366 runs in 12 games. 

Van Der Dussen 

Van Der Dussen is one of the mainstays of MI Cape Town and has accumulated the 5th most runs in the SA20. Boasting a fine stroke rate of 136.20, the solid technique batsman has creamed 474 runs. Van Dussen can play an anchor role and also can strike the bowlers hard whenever it is required.
