Wasim Akram (12)
Former Pakistani legendary bowler Wasim Akram holds the record for the most sixes in a test innings. The Southpaw achieved this rare feat in the 1996 Zimbabwe tour of Pakistan. In the first innings of the 1st test, the skipper of Pakistan recorded his highest test score of 257 in 363 balls in Sheikhupura, decorating with 12 sixes and 22 boundaries. Even after 24 years, the record is unbroken.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (12)
In the third test of England’s tour of India in 2024, India’s new opener Yashasvi Jaiswal levels the record of Wasim Akram for the most sixes in a test innings with 12 sixes against a quality bowling lineup consisting of James Anderson, Mark Wood, Rehan Ahmed, and Tom Hartley. Jaiswal played a mammoth innings of 214* runs in Rajkot which propelled India to win the game by 434 runs. He also smashed experienced Anderson for 3 consecutive sixes in the 85th over of 3rd innings.
Nathan Astle (11)
Former Kiwi top-order batsman, Nathan Astle gets 3rd place on this elite list of most sixes in a test innings. The solid batter hit 11 sixes in the 1st test of England’s tour of New Zealand in 2002 in Christchurch. He played a breathtaking knock of 222 runs from 168 balls, the fastest double century in tests to keep his nation in the game but eventually, New Zealand lost the game.
Matthew Hayden (11)
When swashbuckling Aussie batter Matthew Hayden made the contemporary highest individual test score of 380 against Zimbabwe in 2003 in Perth he whacked 11 sixes too which is the joint third most sixes in a test innings. The aggressive batter smacked 38 fours and stayed on the crease for 622 minutes. His massive knock helped Australia to post 735/6 and register a victory by an innings and 175 runs.
