Former chief selector of the Indian men’s cricket team, MSK Prasad, has taken on the role of a strategic consultant for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in preparation for IPL 2024. The franchise made the announcement via their official Twitter account, outlining Prasad’s responsibilities within the team.
MSK Prasad, aged 48, assumed the role of chief selector for the Indian men’s cricket team in 2016. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in curating squads for major ICC events, including the prestigious 2019 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy. Despite his impactful contributions, he chose to step down from the position in March 2020, bringing an end to his official stint as the head of the selection panel.
“Prasad brings with him a wealth of experience and a stellar track record in cricket operations, coupled with a passion that has driven him to remarkable achievements in both national and international arenas,” stated the IPL team from Lucknow in a statement.
Additionally, the former wicketkeeper-batsman also took up the responsibility of Director of Cricket Operations at the Andhra Cricket Association. In this capacity, he made significant contributions towards the development of cricket infrastructure and coaching facilities across 13 districts in the Andhra Pradesh region.
Lucknow Super Giants have showcased their prowess by qualifying for the playoffs in both of their previous appearances in the IPL. The team’s support staff boasts renowned names such as Gautam Gambhir in the role of mentor, Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach, Morne Morkel as the bowling coach, and Vijay Dahiya as the assistant coach.
