Muralitharan said: “He felt that Sachin had a small weakness against off-spin”

Legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muralitharan is the only player to take 800 test wickets and the highest wicket-taker of all time in international cricket with 1334 wickets.

In a recent interview with Aakash Chopra on Cricbuzz, Muralitharan revealed that he felt Sachin had a small weakness against off-spin. Sachin and Muralitharan are the two best players, the game has ever seen. Both have excelled in their respective role in cricket. Sachin has scored over 36000 runs and hit 100 tons in the game.

Whenever the two rivals faced each other in a match, it was always excited and joyful to watch them. They always tried to get on top of each other. Sachin has scored 1995 test runs at an impressive average of 60.45. While Muralitharan has 105 wickets against India in 22 matches. So you can assume how they used to like to play against each other. The spin wizard got Sachin out 13 times in his career.

But he lauded Virender Sehwag stating that he believed his instinct and could take his chances to smash the bowler around the park.

Muralitharan added- “For Sachin, there was no fear to bowl because he won`t hurt you. Unlike Sehwag who can hurt you. Because he [Sachin Tendulkar] will protect his wicket, he is a good reader of the ball and he knows the technique,”

“I felt in my career, Sachin had a small weakness against off-spin. With leg-spin, he smashes but off-spin somehow he had the difficulty because I got him out so many times. And lots of off-spinners also got him so many times, I have seen it,”.

“I don`t know, I never spoke to him regarding this, that why `you aren`t comfortable with off-spin.` I felt in my mind he had a little bit of weakness that`s why I got a little bit of advantage compared to other players. Sachin is a difficult player, it`s very hard to get him out,” he more stated.
