Pakistan is gearing up for an important cricketing showdown as they prepare to take on Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series. This series is set to take place in Sri Lanka, serving as a crucial buildup for the upcoming Asia Cup. The cricketing world is abuzz with excitement as the Asia Cup 2023 is on the horizon, scheduled to kick off on August 30. Ahead of this prestigious tournament, cricket enthusiasts can look forward to a riveting clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the action-packed series is set to take place from August 22 to August 26. PCB has announced an 18-player squad that is all set to take on Afghanistan. This squad marks the initial phase of preparations, as it will be eventually trimmed down to a final 15-player lineup for the Asia Cup. 

Babar Azam has been named the captain and Shadab Khan will be his deputy for the tournament.

The team will assemble in Hambantota on 18 August with the players in Pakistan departing on 17 August. The players in Pakistan will hold a three-day camp on 14, 15 and 16 August at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore. The squad in Sri Lanka will directly integrate players participating in both the Lankan Premier League and The Hundred on August 18.
