The move follows the retirement of current BCCI President Roger Binny, who will step down after reaching the board’s mandatory retirement age of 70 on July 19.
According to sources, Rajeev Shukla, aged 65, will assume the position on an interim basis for three months. The BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for September 2025, by which time Shukla will turn 66. Reports suggest he is a likely candidate to contest for the full-time BCCI President post during the AGM.

Roger Binny, who took over from Sourav Ganguly in October 2022, has had a notable tenure. His term saw significant successes for Indian cricket, including:
