Smriti Mandhana Becomes World No. 1 ODI Batter After Six Years, Replaces Laura Wolvaardt

Smriti Mandhana Reclaims Top ICC ODI Ranking After Dominant Tri-Series Performance.

Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has reclaimed the World No. 1 spot in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, nearly six years after last topping the charts in November 2019. Mandhana’s resurgence to the top comes on the back of a string of dominant performances in the recently concluded ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka.

Smriti Mandhana’s Rise to the Top

Mandhana played a match-winning knock of 116 off 101 balls* in the final against Sri Lanka, helping India secure the title. The century marked her 11th in ODI cricket and propelled her to the top of the rankings with a total of 727 rating points.

Her consistent form throughout the tri-series and earlier tours, including an unbeaten 90 against New Zealand earlier in the year, has been pivotal in her return to the summit.

Laura Wolvaardt Drops to No. 2

South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, who held the top spot for over six months, has now slipped to joint second place with England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, both holding 719 rating points.

  • Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu gained momentum following her team’s ODI campaign.
