He did well there too. In a group stage match against West Indies, he scored an unbeaten 79 to assist India to chase 130. Viart made a comeback in the team in the home series against Sri Lanka scoring 27 and 54 in first and second ODI. in the third ODI he lost his place again due to injured Yuvraj Singh who regained his fitness.  A second time Virat earned a place as Yuvi ruled out of injury from the series. Virat capitalized the opportunity really well by notching up his maiden ODI century 107 off 111 balls and fabricated a partnership of 224 runs for third wicket with in-form Gautam Gambhir who also scored his career best 150. This partnership helped India to win the series. Gautam bestowed his MOM award to Young Virat Kohli for his explosive innings. But later replaced Yuvraj Singh in the test squad as he was ruled out due to injury. Kohli didn’t get a place in playing 11 throughout the series. But again in november 2011, Virat Kohli got a place in India’s test squad for the West Indies home series as he did well in the previous ODI series against England. He played only one match at Eden gardens and performed well by making 52 and 63 in the match. The next series was way more challenging than the tour of Kangaroo Land. Virat started the test series with duck and 11 runs in the first match. Second match was also similar for Virat as he was struggling to score because their wicket was different than it used to be to him, bouncy and grassy.

But Virat didn’t let the team down in the third match scoring fighting 44 and 75 at Perth against a fierce Australian bowling line up. Virat Kohli hit his maiden Test century (116) at Adelaide and  illustrated his worth. Virat ended the series as the highest run scorer for India 300 runs in four matches with an average of 75. He scored 46 & 11 in the second test. Unfortunately India lost the series by 1-0. Every player goes through several lean phases in their career, as does Virat Kohli. 2014 England tour was Virat Kohli’s worst time in his cricketing career. He was lacking confidence in his batting in the English conditions. He made runs with an average of 13.40 in ten innings. His top score of the test series was 39. Every tough situation brings the best from a human being. Same went for Kohli. Kohli worked really hard on his batting techniques. All the hard work of Virat kohli reflected in the India tour of Australia 2014-15. Virat captained India in the absence of injured MS Dhoni and scored 115 in the first inning and 141 in the second innings.
