Former South African and current RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) wicket-keeper batsman AB DE Villers became the quickest batsman to make 5000 IPL runs in terms of balls, De Villers scored 5000 runs in just 3288 balls. He accomplished the feat against Delhi Capitals on 27th April, where he smashed 75* off 42 balls. De Villers is also the first batsman to have 5000 IPL runs at a strike rate of over 150.
Earlier the record was held by David Warner, amassing 5000 IPL runs in 2554 balls. The other quickest batsmen with 5000 runs are Suresh Raina (3620), Rohit Sharma (3817), and Virat Kohli (3827).
It’s been 2 years since AB has left international cricket. He played his last international match against Australia, where he scored 75 runs. But it doesn’t seem like AB is out of touch, he smacks bowlers like he used to do during his international career. DE Villers has won many matches for RCB and it’s his dream to win the IPL for the franchise. Like every year this year also he has notched up 204 runs in 6 matches so far. After all, it’s a dream for every Bangalore fan to see RCB winning a trophy.
