The Indian cricket team is known for producing some great batsmen since its arrival in international cricket. Every young player in India starts playing cricket with the dream of representing India one day, but a few players can be the reason for India’s glory at the highest level. So far 250 players have played the ODI format for India, however, only six batsman have scored more than 10,000 runs, Let us have a look at Indian Batsman With 10000 ODI Runs

Sachin Tendulkar

Hailed as the “God of cricket”, the great Sachin Tendulkar is the first batsman in the globe to score 10000 runs in ODIs. He achieved the feat during the home series against Australia in 2001. In his career which lasted 23 years, he amassed 18426 runs at an excellent average of 44.83 with 49 tons and 96 fifties. Further, Sachin is the first batter to score 200 runs in a single ODI innings. 

Sourav Ganguly 

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly became the 2nd Indian and 3rd overall batsman to reach the monumental milestone of 10000 ODI runs in 2005. The Southpaw has been a great servant for Indian cricket in the top order with his flawless batting. Having played 308 games, he made 11221 runs, averaging an impressive 40.95. Under Sourav Ganguly, India won the 2002 Champions Trophy. 

Rahul Dravid 

Often being leveled as the test cricketer during his days, Rahul Dravid shocks everyone by etching his name on the tally of Indian batsmen with 10,000 ODI runs. The Gentleman of Cricket played the 50-over format with as much competency as his test cricket. Boasting an average of 39.15, the veteran batsman aggregated 10768 runs, including 12 centuries and 82 half-centuries. Not many know that but Rahul Dravid was the highest run-getter in the 1999 World Cup with 461 runs in 8 matches. 

MS Dhoni 

One of the finest white-ball cricketers India has ever seen, MS Dhoni is the only batsman in the world to score 10,000 or more ODI runs batting mostly at no.6. The wicket-keeper from Ranchi rejuvenated the death over batting with his arrival at the big stage. Be it pacers or spinners, he forgave none and displayed master power hitting in the format. Representing the Men in Blue in 347 matches, he ended his career with 10599 runs at a stunning average of 50.23 under his belt. Not only with batting but with his genius captaincy helped India to win 3 major ICC trophies. 

Virat Kohli 

Known as the greatest batsman of One Day cricket, the batting maestro, Virat Kohli set a high standard in the format with his poetry in motion exhibition. He made his debut in 2008 and since then, he has been unstoppable, accumulating 13027 runs at an incredible average of 57.38. With 47 tons in his name, he is only 3 centuries away from breaking Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries by a batter. His love of absorbing pressure and knack of chasing any big target on a big day has propelled him to become once in a generation player. 

Rohit Sharma

The current captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma is a new addition on this elite list of Indian batsmen with 10000 ODI runs. Sharma accomplished the milestone in style, smashing a straight six off Sri Lankan bowler Kasun Rajitha during the 2023 Asia Cup. The swashbuckling batter with 3 double centuries has notched up 10031 runs at a healthy average of 48.93.
