BCCI Invites Army, Navy, and Air Force Chiefs to Honour Operation Sindoor Heroes.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will pay a grand tribute to the Indian Armed Forces during the IPL 2025 final, scheduled for June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This gesture is in honor of Operation Sindoor, a recent military operation targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), following the Pahalgam attack.
As a mark of respect, the BCCI has invited the Chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force to attend the closing ceremony. The evening will include a stirring performance by military bands, paying homage to the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian soldiers involved in the operation.
BCCI officials confirmed that the tribute is part of a broader initiative to recognize the role of the armed forces in safeguarding national security. “It is our way of saying thank you to the real heroes of our nation,” said a BCCI spokesperson.
Earlier in the season, the IPL had already begun saluting the military. During the Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Chennai Super Kings match at Eden Gardens, players stood in solidarity for the national anthem, with digital displays showcasing messages such as “Proud of the Indian Armed Forces.”
The 2025 season was briefly suspended due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. With the resumption of the tournament, the BCCI aims to unite the country through sport and patriotism.
The final match promises not only thrilling cricket but also a moving tribute to India’s defenders. With national pride at its heart, this will be more than just a cricket match—it will be a celebration of courage, unity, and sacrifice.
