Josh Hazlewood Optioned Himself Out of IPL 2021

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood optioned himself out of 2021 IPL today. Hazlewood has done so to make sure he stays fully fit for the upcoming Australia tour of Bangladesh, West Indies, and the ICC 2021 T20 World Cup followed by Ashes. The Covid-19 Bio-bubble protocol has made player’s life a bit tough, as they are not supposed to go outside of their hotels and have fun and hang out with family and friends. So players have to stay away from their family for a long time during every tournament. CSK is surely gonna miss the service of Josh.

Via cricket.com.au Hazlewood said “It’s been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months. We’ve got a big winter ahead too. The West Indies is going to be a long tour, with Bangladesh T20 tour potentially thrown on the end of that,” cricket.com.au quoted Hazlewood as saying.

“Then potentially the T20 World Cup leading into the Ashes, so it’s a big 12 months, as it always is with Australia, and I want to give myself the best chance to be mentally and physically ready for that. That’s the decision I’ve made, and it sits pretty well with me,”

Hazlewood’s CSK Career

In three matches Hazlewood has taken 1 wicket for Chennai Super Kings with a decent economy of 6.14. Chennai Super Kings will soon announce a perfect replacement for Josh Hazlewood.
