Delhi fast bowler Navdeep Saini made test debut at SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground) against Australia on Thursday, January 7th in the 3rd test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Saini became the 300th Indian player to play test cricket for India. Saini superseded injured Yadav in the playing xi.
Earlier he played 2 matches in the ODI series, in which India lost 2-1. Saini played 2 out of 3 ODI matches and grabbed only 1 wicket. Many of us might be thinking that why Saini was preferred over T Natarajan in the playing xi. The reason is Saini has played more fast-class games than Natarajan. Natarajan is a very good white-ball bowler but yet to prove himself in the longest format of the game. Saini has done well for India A also, which paved the way for him into the Indian Test side.
First-class record–Navdeep Saini made test debut
Navdeep Saini has been playing for Delhi in first-class cricket for the last 7 years. He has grabbed 128 wickets in 46 matches with an average of 28.46 including four 4-wicket hauls and the same numbers of fifers.
