NEW ZEALAND DEFEATED PAKISTAN IN THE 1ST TEST, ALAM & RIZWAN’S KNOCK WENT IN VAIN

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 101 runs in the first test at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui on Wednesday, December 30th. Fawad Alam and Mohammad Rizwan’s 102 and 60 went in vain. They fought their tooth and nail to draw the match but couldn’t withstand Kiwis.

After losing 3 wickets on day 4 Pakistan was willing to draw the match. Fawad Alam hit a blistering century (102 off 269 balls) under pressure to save the match for Pakistan. It was his second century in test cricket after 11 years since his first on his debut match. Captain Rizwan also led from the front but unluckily got out for 60 by Neil Wagner. 

Pakistan had to survive more than 6 overs in order to draw the match after 122 overs but despite the hard try of Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, they could survive till 123.3 overs. It was a thrilling match overall and this match was the proof why test cricket is the best format of the game and it has to be kept alive.
