1. Steve and Mark Waugh (Australia)
The Waugh twins are the most famous brothers in cricket. In 1991 they became the first twins to play in the same Test, and they went on to play more than 100 Tests together.
- Steve Waugh: 168 Tests and 10,927 Test runs. He captained Australia to the 1999 World Cup and a then-record run of 16 straight Test wins.
- Mark Waugh: 128 Tests and 8,029 Test runs. Nicknamed “Junior”, he was known for elegant strokeplay and brilliant slip catching.
Together they scored 18,956 Test runs, a benchmark no other brothers have come close to.
2. Hardik and Krunal Pandya (India)
India’s most successful modern brothers grew up in Vadodara and came through Baroda cricket together. They won three IPL titles side by side at Mumbai Indians, in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
- Hardik Pandya: pace-bowling all-rounder who won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and 2026 and the 2025 Champions Trophy. - Krunal Pandya: left-arm spinning all-rounder. He hit a 26-ball fifty on his ODI debut against England in 2021, the fastest by a debutant. In the IPL he is the only player to win Player of the Match in two finals: for Mumbai Indians in 2017 and for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2025, when RCB won their first title.

3. Irfan and Yusuf Pathan (India)
Also from Baroda, the Pathan brothers brought swing and power to Indian cricket, and both were part of India’s win at the first T20 World Cup in 2007.
- Irfan Pathan: left-arm swing bowler and handy batter. He took a hat-trick in the first over of a Test against Pakistan in Karachi in 2006, and was Player of the Match in the 2007 T20 World Cup final with 3 for 16.
- Yusuf Pathan: explosive power-hitter and part-time off-spinner. He made his India debut in the 2007 T20 World Cup final and was also part of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad. He won IPL titles with Rajasthan Royals (2008) and Kolkata Knight Riders (2012 and 2014).
4. Shaun and Mitchell Marsh (Australia)
The sons of former Australia opener Geoff Marsh continued a family tradition.
- Shaun Marsh: stylish left-handed top-order batter who played 38 Tests and scored a century on Test debut in 2011.
- Mitchell Marsh: all-rounder who was Player of the Match in the 2021 T20 World Cup final with 77 not out, and won the 2023 ODI World Cup. He later became Australia’s T20I captain.
5. Kamran and Umar Akmal (Pakistan)
The Akmals from Lahore were known for aggressive batting. A third brother, Adnan Akmal, also kept wicket for Pakistan in Tests.
- Kamran Akmal: attacking wicketkeeper-batter with six Test centuries. He kept wicket in Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup win.
- Umar Akmal: gifted middle-order batter whose career was cut short by inconsistency and a 2020 ban for failing to report corrupt approaches.
6. Albie and Morne Morkel (South Africa)
The Morkel brothers gave South Africa firepower with both bat and ball.
- Albie Morkel: big-hitting all-rounder who starred in white-ball cricket and won IPL titles with Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and 2011.
- Morne Morkel: tall fast bowler with 309 Test wickets and more than 500 international wickets. He later became India’s bowling coach in 2024.
7. Andy and Grant Flower (Zimbabwe)
The Flowers were the backbone of Zimbabwe’s best era in the 1990s and early 2000s.
- Andy Flower: Zimbabwe’s greatest batter, with 4,794 Test runs at an average of 51.54. He was ranked the world’s No. 1 Test batter in 2001, and later coached England to the 2010 T20 World Cup and an Ashes win in Australia.
- Grant Flower: solid all-rounder with 67 Tests, who later became a respected batting coach for Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
