In 2001 on this day Rahul Dravid & VVS Laxman made one of the greatest comebacks of all time against Australia at Eden Gardens. Dravid and Laxman stitched a partnership of 376 runs for the 5th wicket. Laxman’s 281 was the highest score of that time by an Indian batsman in tests & Dravid also impressed with 180 runs. 

Australia posted a mammoth score of 445 runs in the 1st innings, skipper Steve Waugh’s 110 assisted Aussies to reach the total. For India young, Harbhajan bagged 7/123 in 37.5 overs. Against Australia’s mighty bowling line-up India was bundled for 171 runs, and India was 274 runs behind. Afterward in the 2nd innings, Dravid and Laxman’s gigantic score helped India to set a target of 383 runs. Fortunately, Harbhajan’s 6-for was the reason behind Australia’s collapse for 212 runs.
