BCCI Announces Equal Pay : Gender Equality

BCCI Announces Equal Pay : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared gender equality in terms of match fees on Thursday, 27th October. The historical decision Was made by the BCCI Honorary Secretary Jay Shah via Twitter. The administrator said- “ I am pleased to announce BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing a pay equity policy for our contracted women cricketers. The match fee for both men and women will be the same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian cricket.”

BCCI Announces Equal Pay

There was a time when women cricketers would not even get their jersey to represent India and now BCCI has decided to pay them equally. The women have earned it through their rigorous hard work and performance. 

As per the current pay scale, a men cricketer earns INR 15 Lakhs for each test match, INR 6 Lakhs for every ODI, and INR 3 Lakhs for a single T20. 

Hence, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur & Co will receive the same amount as mentioned above. 

Indian legends Sachin Tendulkar and Mithali Raj have also appreciated BCCI Announcement on Equal Pay for Indian women cricket team.
