The BCCI has declared India’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday, April 30. Veteran wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul has missed out on a berth in the side shockingly.
Sanju Samson who is having a great IPL 2024 has been given an edge over KL Rahul alongside Rishabh Pant. Both Sanju and Rishabh are among the top six run-scorers in the ongoing IPL.
Skipper Rohit Sharma will lead the side in the USA and the West Indies with all-rounder Hardik Pandya being his deputy.
Left-hand batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has been chosen over Shubman Gill considering his recent form in mind, Gill will be traveling with the team as a reserve player.
The other batters in the team are Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shivam Dube. India will get Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel alongside Hardik as an all-rounder.
Yuzvendra Chahal who was not a part of the Men in Blue in the recently concluded South Africa and Afghanistan T20 series has made a cut in the side on the back of his superb IPL performance. Kuldeep Yadav is another spin bowling option for the team in the event.
Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and MD Siraj has filled the fast bowling spots in the unit.
The other reserved players in the team will be Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed.
India will play their first match in the T20 World Cup 2024 on 5th June against Ireland in New York while the much anticipated India vs Pakistan clash will be played on 9th June at the same venue.
