TOP 10 Fastest Ball in IPL History

Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most prestigious leagues in world cricket. IPL is growing rapidly every year, which is a big positive for our country. Many youngsters performed well, and after that, they got the opportunity to represent their country. Umran Malik is the latest entry in the list, he bowled brilliantly during the last season, especially his rapid pace was the main highlight of the previous year’s IPL. He bowled 150+ very easily in most of the matches and he clocked 157kmph which was the fastest delivery of the tournament. It’s been 15 years since the IPL started, and we have seen many of the great fast bowlers during that period. Shaun Tait 

Shaun Tait has bowled the fastest ball in the history of the IPL. He clocked 157.71 km/hrback in 2011 to Aaron Finch who was playing for Delhi Daredevils at that time. He was one of the fastest bowlers in the history of cricket, not only in the IPL. He played for Rajasthan Royals in four seasons in a total of 21 matches and picked 23 wickets. However, due to continuous injuries, his career ended much earlier than some of the other fast bowlers of his time. 

Gerald Coetzee

Mumbai Indian’s all-rounder Gerald Coetzee touched the 157.74 km/hr mark during the last ball of the 2nd innings of the 14th match against Rajasthan Royals. The right-arm seamer hit the ball halfway which batter Riyan Parag tried to hook and the ball went to four over the keeper’s head. This delivery has been the fastest delivery of IPL 2024.

Lockie Ferguson

Lockie Ferguson bowled the fastest ball in the IPL 2022. During the final match against Rajasthan Royals, Lockie bowled at 157.3 kmph and he also won the award for the fastest delivery of the tournament. Ferguson has a reputation for bowling fast and he did that on a number of occasions during the IPL 2022. Recently he again traded back to his old franchise, which is Kolkata Knight Riders. 

Umran Malik

Umran Malik is currently one of the fastest bowlers in India. In the recently concluded IPL 2022, he bowled one of the fastest balls of the tournament after Lockie Ferguson which was 157 kmph, to Delhi Capitals batter Rovman Powell. Umran Malik represented India after the IPL and bowled decently well against Ireland and Bangladesh. He just needs to work on his line & length, and if he manages to do that then definitely he will have a bright future ahead for India. 

Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje is a pretty exciting bowler from South Africa. During the IPL 2020, he amazed everyone with his expressive pace and constantly bowled over 150kmph, and dismissed many batters with his sheer pace. He was playing for Delhi Capitals against Rajasthan Royals, and in that match, he bowled a 156.22 km/hr delivery to Jos Buttler, which he scooped for four is the 4th fastest ball in IPL. He was one of the reasons, because of which Delhi Capitals reached the Finals of IPL 2020. 

Umran Malik 

Umran Malik again bowled the 5th fastest delivery in the IPL. He is featuring constantly in this list of fastest balls. He bowled a delivery with a speed of 156 kmph against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. He troubled many batsmen in that match with his raw pace. 

Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav bowled the 3rd fastest ball of IPL 2024 during the game between Lucknow Supergiants and Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium. The 22-year-old from Delhi recorded 155.8 km/hr during the first ball of the 12th over against Shikha Dhawan. He pitched the ball on the good length and took the ball away from the batter for a dot ball. It was Mayank’s debut IPL game and he drew everyone’s attention with his electrifying pace.

Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje bowled at a speed of 155.1 kmph when he was playing for Delhi Capitals against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020. We have seen his pace in the IPL and because of that, he was more lethal in that season than any other fast bowler. His 155.1 kmph delivery is the 6th fastest ball in IPL history.

Umran Malik

Again Umran Malik is featured for the third time in this list and by watching this list one can imagine his consistency in bowling fast deliveries. He bowled a 154.8 km/ph delivery during the IPL 2022 against Delhi Capitals and he was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

Anrich Nortje 

Anrich Nortje is also featured for the third time on this list of the fastest balls in IPL. Against Rajasthan Royals only he bowled his third fastest ball with a speed of 154.7 kmph in IPL 2020. That season was his dream season. 

Dale Steyn

Dale Steyn was one of the best bowlers of his time. He troubled many great batsmen not only in the IPL as well as in International cricket. There is no surprise that he is here on the fastest ball in IPL list. In IPL 2012, when he was playing for Deccan Chargers he bowled a 154.4 kmph delivery. 

Kagiso Rabada

Again a South African speedster is featured in this list. Rabada is arguably the best all-format fast bowler in the current generation. He took 25 wickets in just 12 matches in IPL 2019 and the next year he came back and grabbed the purple cap with 30 wickets. His fastest delivery was 154.23 kmph during that season.
