Rishabh Pant: 48 balls (2016-17)
Pant’s 48-ball century against Jharkhand in Thiruvananthapuram is the fastest hundred in Ranji Trophy history and the fastest first-class century on record by an Indian. He had already made an 82-ball hundred in the first innings of the same match, so the game produced two entries on this list.
Rajesh Borah and Riyan Parag: 56 balls
Two Assam batters share second place. Rajesh Borah reached three figures in 56 balls against Tripura in Guwahati in 1987-88, and Riyan Parag matched him in the 2023-24 season against Chhattisgarh in Raipur.
Reuben Paul: 60 balls (1995-96)
Tamil Nadu’s Reuben Paul hit a 60-ball hundred against Goa in Chennai in 1995-96, which stood among the quickest in the competition for decades.
Rajat Patidar: 68 balls (2024-25)
Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar entered the top five in October 2024 with a 68-ball century against Haryana in Indore, edging out Naman Ojha’s 69-ball effort for the same state from 2014-15.

The Ranji Trophy also produced a world record in the 2025-26 season. On November 9, 2025, Meghalaya’s Akash Kumar Choudhary reached a half-century in just 11 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in Surat, the fastest fifty in first-class history. He hit eight sixes in a row, six of them in one over, and finished 50 not out off 14 balls.
