Test cricket is popular among women as much as it is among men. The Indian women’s cricket team played their first test match against West Indies in 1976. Test is not the most played format in women’s cricket but T20I is, hence the number of games that India has played since its arrival is remarkably less. So far, India has played 40 tests overall. Fans are really excited to know about the batters with the most runs in women’s test cricket for India.

Players with Most Runs in Women’s Test Cricket for India

Sandhya Agarwal 

Sandhya Agarwal has scored the most runs for India and 6th highest overall in women’s test cricket. The former Indian captain played between 1984 to 1994 and amassed 1110 runs in only 13 tests, averaging a staggering 50.45. The right-hand batter from Indore hit 4 centuries and as many fifties in her journey. 

Shantha Rangaswamy 

The first Indian captain to lead the Women in Blue in tests, Shantha Rangaswamy gets 2nd place on the elite list of the most runs in women’s test cricket for India. Having made her debut in 1976, she extended her test career till 1991 and finished with 750 runs in 16 tests under her belt. With her decent medium-fast bowling, she took 21 wickets too. 

Shubhangi Kulkarni 

The 3rd who makes it to this list is Shubhangi Kulkarni, a bowling all-rounder who excelled as a spinner and a handy batter. At a decent average of 23.33, the Pune-born player accumulated 700 runs in 19 tests. She has 1 hundred and 2 fifties to her name. 

Mithali Raj 

The highest run-scorer across formats in women’s cricket, Mithali Raj finds herself in 4th place in getting the most test runs for India in women’s cricket. The Rajsthani batter played her maiden game in the format in 2002 against South Africa. In the same year, she hit a spectacular 214 against England at Taunton, the highest individual score by an Indian woman. In 12 games, the former Indian skipper notched up 699 runs at 43.68. 

Gargi Banerji 

Bengal sensation Gargee Banerji made 614 runs in 12 tests, the 5th most in women’s test for India. The right-hand batter cum medium-fast bowler maintained a nice average of 27.90 in her outings while with the red cherry in hand, she claimed 8 wickets.
