Most Runs In 1975 World Cup
Former Kiwi batsman Glenn Turner accumulated the most runs in the maiden Cricket WC in 1975, 333 runs in 4 matches. Averaging 166.50, he had hit two tons in the competition, which was the most by any batsman. His best score of 171* came against East Africa at Birmingham in 201 balls. From the 1975 to 1983 World Cup matches used to be played for 50 overs per innings.
Most Runs In 1979 WC
West Indian legend Gordon Greenidge topped the chart in terms of making the most runs in the 1979 World Cup. The right-hand batsman amassed 253 runs in 4 matches with an impressive average of 84.33. Gordon scored his best in the event against India at Birmingham, 106* off 173 balls. Having a great competition with the bat, he won the World Cup for the 2nd consecutive time with West Indies.
