MS Dhoni Should Retire After IPL 2025, Says Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist Urges MS Dhoni to Retire After IPL 2025: “Nothing Left to Prove”.

Former Australia cricketer Adam Gilchrist has urged legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni to consider retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the 2025 season, saying the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon has “nothing left to prove.”

Dhoni, 43, resumed captaincy duties for CSK this season after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to injury. However, the five-time IPL champions have struggled in IPL 2025, winning only two of their nine matches so far.

“MS Dhoni has nothing to prove to anyone in the game,” Gilchrist told Cricbuzz. “He’ll know what to do, but perhaps he doesn’t need to be there next year. I love you, MS — you are a champion and an icon.”

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2019, has continued to play in the IPL, leading CSK with trademark composure and tactical brilliance. Despite his age, he remains one of the most respected figures in world cricket.

In a recent interview, Dhoni hinted at the twilight of his playing career, saying:

“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I’m able to play.”

As speculation mounts over his future, fans and cricket pundits alike are watching closely to see whether the 2025 season will mark the end of MS Dhoni’s illustrious IPL career.
