Longest Sixes In IPL History

Indian Premier League (IPL) is a synonym for exciting and standard cricket. As IPL is played in T20 form, witnessing sixes is a sure-shot thing. Every single team in IPL includes two or more big hitters who can send the ball for a long distance with their sheer power and timing. A Six is something that fills the fans with zing and ecstasy. So far the 15 seasons of IPL have been conducted successfully and the 16th season is going on grandiosity. So we will put you through the longest sixes in IPL history.

Albie Morkel has longest six in IPL history

Albie Morkel

Ex-South African and CSK all-rounder, Albie Morkel owns the record for whacking the longest six in IPL history. He had a memorable 6 years with the CSK franchise (2005-2014), including being champions 2 times in 2011 & 2013. In the very first edition of IPL in 2008, the player with the three-dimensional ability slog-swept the Deccan Chargers’ spinner Pragyan Ojha for a gigantic 125 meters six over the mid-wicket. It’s been 16 years now and the record is still unbroken despite the presence of menacing hitters like Chris Gayle, MS Dhoni, AB De Villiers, Andre Russell, and Glenn Maxwell around.

Praveen Kumar

The most unexpected name that people can never think of, Praveen Kumar occupies the 2nd spot on the elite list of longest sixes in IPL. Having got the designation of contemporary best swing bowler in the world, the Indian pacer could give the rivals a blow with his bat too. In a group match against Rajasthan Royals in 2008, RCB was cruising at 78/8, and tailender Praveen Kumar clobbered Yusuf Pathan for a 124-meter-long maximum to impart his team the rays of hope.

Adam Gilchrist

Former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist was as dangerous in the T20 carnival as he was in international cricket. Smashing RCB overseas seamer Charl Langeveldt over cow corner off a slower for a humungous six which measured 122 meters, the Southpaw gets 3rd place on the longest sixes in the IPL tally. Leading the Punjab Kings from the front, the stalwart scored a century in just 53 balls in that match at Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2011. RCB bowlers Sreenath Aravind, Chris Gayle, Van Dar Warth, and above mentioned Langeveldt were looking like kids to him.

Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa is one of the most prolific run scores in IPL and etched his name in the 4th position on the longest sixes in the IPL chart when representing RCB he hammered one of the reputed T20 bowlers Dwayne Bravo’s key slower ball in the deep mid-wicket for 120 meters distance in 2010 IPL. The Karnataka opener was a sweet timer of the ball but this six with force is worth remembering.

Chris Gayle

The Caribbean legend Chris Gayle needs no introduction when it comes to hitting sixes. Gayle puts himself in 5th place on the honorable longest sixes in the IPL list with his 119 meters six. His victim was Pune Warrior India’s left-arm spinner, Ali Murtaza. Getting this six in his carnage knock of 175* off 66 balls was icing on the cake for the West Indian charismatic batter. Murtaza tossed the ball on the half-volley length to get punished over the mid-wicket for a massive six at Chinnaswamy stadium.
