About the Vijay Hazare Trophy
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is India’s premier domestic one-day (50-over, List A) competition, named after former India captain Vijay Hazare. It is contested by the same state and institutional teams that play the Ranji Trophy, and it sits alongside the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) on the BCCI’s white-ball calendar.
The last few seasons have produced a string of new champions: Himachal Pradesh (2021-22), Haryana (2023-24) and Vidarbha (2025-26) all won their first titles. Vidarbha’s triumph came a year after a side featuring Karun Nair lost the 2024-25 final to Karnataka.
Players in the Vijay Hazare Trophy are paid the same daily match fee as in the Ranji Trophy, and the winners receive Rs 1 crore in prize money under the BCCI’s April 2023 revision. Read more in our guide to domestic cricket match fees and prize money.
